Change

‘The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.’
Socrates

Why do we all of a sudden resolve all kinds of things around New Year’s Day? We want to lose weight, quit smoking, change jobs or start a business of our own and all of a sudden we can find the strength to say goodbye to something or someone who was obstructing our growth. Is it just tradition or does it work differently?

During Christmas Holidays, in contrast to many other times in the year, we find that we are entitled to take a moment for ourselves and our loved ones. The fact we do this together may take away the guilt we feel when we normally take some time for contemplation. At that moment we realize what we have been doing over the past year or years and discover that it is now time to change. Or in other words we meditate, observe our situation and establish that it is time to let go. The power of the masses, the feeling we are not alone, the fact we’re in this together, is what helps us visualizing and taking the step.

Wouldn’t it be great if we permit ourselves constantly to stand still, watch ourselves, accept te situation, let go what we don’t need anymore and grow. And that we realize that the power to change and to grow and the connection to all is always there. That is the yoga lifestyle. In yoga we find our path to enlightenment and we will be able to learn how to be satisfied.

‘The only real failure in life is not to be true to the best one knows.’
